Video Effect Using Adobe After Effect

Twixtor test slow motion

Twixtor is much more accurate, tracks objects farther, and exhibits fewer artifacts

when there are objects crossing in the scene. This means less tearing and stretching

of objects as they cross or go out of the frame.

So, to get to the tutorial and explanation. The main subject in this article is: The secret is NOT knowing any specific settings in Twixtor, the secret takes place right before you're pressing the record button. Almost every Twixtor tutorials I've seen on Youtube or Vimeo only tells you the settings in the software and how to slow down your clip, which also is good to know of course, but I haven't seen one single tutorial that tells about the most important part, how you should set up your scene before shooting. I won't go in too deep in the technical aspect of this though it would probably be very advanced and hard to understand, so let's do it pre school-way.

Let's say that Twixtor got a brain, it can think but it is very small and needs all the help it can get. When it look at your scene, it tries to figure out what's the background and what's the object it should be focusing on when slowing down everything. It wants to create two dimensions, one that represents the moving object that should be slowed down in a nice way, and one that represents the background which should be as frozen as possible.

After Effects Suicide Head Shot

The head exploding was done in after effects, no green screen.
